TKCU Educational Philosophy
TKCU is a hybrid model school and is organized around the premise that a meaningful and positive partnership between school and home makes the biggest difference in a child’s education.
It is our core belief that every child can learn and can develop a love for learning. It is our goal to create confident life- long learners. Classes meet on Tuesday- Wednesday- Thursday with home learning happening on Monday and Friday.
At TKCU we believe a whole child approach to education (mental, spiritual, and academic) is essential. This means that everything we do and teach should be rooted in Christ. We start our day with devotion and prayer, focusing on what is most important, and giving thanks for all we have. In choosing our core curriculum we evaluate each one against a formal set of criteria.
Each chosen curriculum must:
• Be biblically sound or designed so that Christian elements can be integrated throughout.
• Be age appropriate
• Support our standards of high academic excellence and while nurturing the heart of the children we serve.
• Be parent-friendly. Given the model of our school, this is a significant consideration. The curriculum must be well organized so that the parent will not have to invest a large amount of time in becoming an expert on that particular curriculum.
Classes are divided into small groups (we strive for no more than 10) so that optimal learning can occur. These small groups allow for more personalization and time with each child to ensure mastery of the curriculum. From the classroom to extracurricular activities and electives, we focus on creating life-long learners who will be prepared to think critically, and biblically, in an ever-changing world and culture.
